Grilled Bananas

This is an old family recipe. Very simple, very good. The perfect dessert for a BBQ party.

Ingredients (serves four):
  • Four medium-ripe bananas
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp Demerara sugar
  • 1 oz rum or whiskey
  1. Cut bananas in half lenghtwise, but leave in peel
  2. Sprinkle on sugar and top with honey
  3. Cover with about 1/2 of the rum or whiskey
  4. Put on grill at medium heat until peel separates
  5. Pour remaining rum or whiskey over bananas to flambé them
